Choosing that One Thing…
Today is day 120 of the lockdown here in South Africa. For me, that means taking things one day at a time.
I remind myself daily that when life becomes overwhelming, choose that one thing! I posture my heart towards Mary’s beautiful example sitting at the feet of Jesus, beckoning her heart to every word He spoke. She chose well. She loved the Lord’s presence…His nearness. Everything else could wait.
It’s not always easy to let go of the things that overwhelm me. There are too many distractions in my day and it often feels like my TO-DO lists are longer than my time alone with God. Even though He’s always with me, I am not always living with that awareness thus I miss out. I miss out on hearing and seeing His heart’s desire for me. When He wants to share His secret joys with me and my heart is not postured to His, I miss out, leaving me depleted and burdened. Can you relate?
Today, together, let us choose ONE THING: one thing that matters, one thing that fills, one thing that heals, one thing that sustains, one thing that refreshes the soul, one thing that’s of deep eternal value, and then, be wholeheartedly present in it!
Mary chose one thing; the thing that refreshed her soul: Precious time with Jesus Christ.
“But only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:42
Blessings for a beautiful day,
