God is within Her – 3 Timeless Promises

Awaken my heart…

For the past few months, God has awakened my heart to discover the awesome promises of Psalm 46:5. I had no idea where to start and so I decided this would be a personal quest, something like a pursuit.

I have always wondered about these words: God is within her she will not fall…

When I saw this scripture for the very first time, it read: “God is within her, she shall not fail…” My heart leaped, and I was filled with so much hope. I could see all the possibilities within the difficulties that stared me blank in the face, and I could see myself rise above all of my challenges!

However, all this excitement was short-lived. I soon realized I did not know what this verse meant and that those words were so much more than just a ‘feel-good’.

Have you ever *felt* a Bible verse? The first time this happened to me, it felt as though my heart got hooked onto a Truth-rod reeling me in for the encounter!

My heart feels pleasantly lighter after discovering the timeless promises beautifully embedded in the words of Psalm 46 verse 5. I believe that when God speaks a word into your heart, He means to change your circumstances with that word. Often the purpose of the context of scripture is meant to shed light on the context of your own circumstances. This is what I experienced with this particular Scripture verse. I embrace the King James Version that says: “God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.” Can you feel that exclamation?

God does not mean for us to divorce ourselves from the great possibilities of His word just because it happened in “those days”.  I believe that He wants us to understand the context and purpose of the original happenings in order for us to see how our own lives can be impacted and transformed by His word.

When our hearts are open…

So then, when my heart is opened wide by the encouragement of His words given to me at a given time and in a specific season, it is to transform my circumstances! Thus, the purpose of that Word in my life is fulfilled. His heart’s desire is met in ways I may never be able to grasp. If God means for me to be encouraged, then that is exactly what I want to be. I simply cannot get hung up too much over the “nitty-gritty” of contextualism. Should I do this, I deny the power of God’s Word in my situation.

God is faithful and the fulfilment of His Word does not depend on our understanding, nor is it limited because of our lack. He desires our obedient hearts postured to seek Him diligently.

When I shift my thinking by acknowledging the context of my own life, I can then evaluate where I am at and who I am in Christ Jesus. I allow the written words into the circumstance of my life, embracing a far greater and more powerful reality than my own.

By doing this I was able to recognize the beautiful Promise in the words of Psalm 46 verse 5,

so here are the timeless promises so beautifully embedded:

He Promises

  • His Presence
  • My Position and
  • His Power

I love the Bible version that says: God will help her at the break of day!

THIS is YOUR Break of Day too! THIS is YOUR PROMISE! If your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, guess what? He is in you,and if He is in you, He IS in your midst! He is the same God of yesterday, and the same God of today, tomorrow and of Psalm 46! YES, Trust in Him, and you will see that everything is going to be alright. That does not mean we won’t face the many storms of life, but it does mean that you and I can confidently trust this God of Psalm 46!

“Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, that they may see the glory You gave Me because You loved Me before the foundation of the world.…” John 17:24

Take some time and search the different versions of the Bible for this scripture. It is one of my favourite things to do when I study or even just meditate on God’s Word.

So, let us look at the basic dictionary definition of fail and fall:

Fail: be unsuccessful in achieving one’s goal.

Fall: move from a higher to a lower level, typically rapidly and without control- an act of falling or collapsing.

To Tumble, trip, spill, topple, stumble, slip, collapse

The Hebrew meaning of this verse roots me even deeper as I open my mind to understand what I’ve been missing. She shall not be shaken, moved, overthrown…she shall not slip or shake. Allow God to speak to your heart about your own circumstances when you read the Bible. It’s a great way to hear His voice!

“God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God will help her right early [at the dawn of the morning].” ~Psalm 46:5 Amp.Ver.

I invite you to grow with me and blossom in faith as we allow His promises to take us to full bloom!
